Respect for the environment is one of the essential factors when defining the activity of Saggas. As a sign of our commitment to the environment, the environmental management of the plant is certified under the requirements of the UNE-EN ISO 14001 standard and it is registered in the Registry of Centers with Environmental Management Systems of the Valencian Community, according to the EMAS Regulation. Annually, we submit our environmental and energy management to an audit process, we prepare our Environmental Declaration, and we submit it to verification by accredited entities, according to the EMAS standard.
Saggas has continuously maintained voluntary adherence to the EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) for more than 10 uninterrupted years, which consolidates our commitment in relation with environmental care.
The industrial waste generated by Saggas is mostly associated with the maintenance of facilities and equipment. Saggas has set a remarkable objective in order to recycle all waste, focusing on aspects such us the circular economy, good practices and the selection of agents who prioritize the recovery of waste.
At Saggas, we do not use mains water in our production processes. The plant uses seawater in the vaporisers, which is then returned to the sea in its original state. Fresh water is used for sanitary purposes, such as irrigation and to supply firefighting equipment.
Saggas is certified under the international standard ISO 50001, a standard under which we carry out a rigorous control of the plant energy management. Our energy consumption is mainly sourced from our natural gas and from electricity.
