14 Feb Saggas manages 1.55 million tons of LNG in 2019
The plant has regasified 10% of the total LNG introduced into the Spanish gas system.
The Sagunto regasification plant has managed a total of 1.55 million tons of LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) in 2019, seven times the activity carried out over the previous year, exceeding the quantity managed in 2017.
Specifically, throughout 2019 Saggas has unloaded 1,548,822 tons of LNG, with a total production of 23,644 GWh. According to this, Saggas has regasified 10% of the LNG introduced into the Spanish gas system which, in energy terms, is equivalent to 58% of the demand for natural gas in the Valencian Community.
In total, the plant has unloaded 23 methane vessels, mostly from Qatar, the United States, Algeria, Russia, Nigeria, Belgium and Trinidad & Tobago. Besides, Saggas has loaded 4,482 tankers with a total of 84,683 tons of LNG.
In 2019, Saggas began its participation in the European Hive2 project whose goal is to develop a series of specific actions aimed at promoting the use of Liquefied Natural Gas as a fuel for maritime transport. In particular, the plant is working on a project to adapt its dock to meet LNG loads to small vessels.
