29 Jul Saggas prevented emission of over 46,000 tons of CO2e in 2021
This reduction is attributed to measures implemented under the plant’s Carbon Strategy.
These measures also led to Saggas’ exclusion from the Emissions Trading Scheme for the period 2021 – 2025.
In line with its CSR policy, Saggas collaborated with 30 initiatives in the Sagunto area across various fields including culture, sports, social action, environment, and local development.
The Sagunto regasification plant avoided emitting 46,332 tons of CO2e during 2021. This reduction was achieved through significant energy efficiency measures implemented as part of the plant’s Carbon Strategy. The new Carbon Strategic Plan for the period 2021-2026 aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
These measures also led to Saggas’ exclusion from the Emissions Trading Scheme for the 2021-2025 period, marking a significant milestone in the plant’s commitment to reducing its Carbon Footprint.
Moreover, in 2021, the methane emissions reduction plan presented by Saggas under the Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 (OGMP 2.0) program received the “Gold Standard” distinction from the United Nations. This international recognition confirms that the actions outlined in the plan are robust and align with Saggas’ targets to reduce methane emissions by 45% by 2025 compared to 2015 levels.
Commitment to the Community
During 2021, Saggas collaborated with 31 initiatives in the Sagunto area and the Camp de Morvedre region, as part of the plant’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy, which focuses on five areas: culture, sports, social action, environment, and local development.
Specifically, last year, Saggas supported various initiatives promoting Sagunt’s culture and traditions. It also supported different public sports events and contributed to grassroots sports development by backing various sports clubs in Sagunto. In the field of social action, Saggas continued its collaboration with the Centre Solidari d’Aliments de Sagunt. Environmentally, under the agreement with the Generalitat Valenciana through the CEACV, the plant contributed to the construction of a new bird observation tower in the Marjal dels Moros for the enjoyment of visitors to this natural park.
